Locus

BC Services

It is always wise to ensure that your risk-management procedures and processes are in place so that you don't have to use them!

However, natural catastrophes such as floods and fire can prevent you from servicing your members, and all the problems that that can lead to in their lives. WCS provide a number of business Continuity Services for our customers, to enhance the offerings and choices available.

LOCUS In-Built Recovery. [Level 0 DR]

Automatically 'built-in' to LOCUS as standard is the ability to recover from many types of problem automatically.

LOCUS will automatically undo updates, for example, if the system has been interrupted for example by loss of power. LOCUS provides an automatic 'hot restart' when it becomes available again, and automatically 'rolls back' the transactions, leaving a clean point to restart processing from.

On-Site Disaster Recovery [Level 1 DR]

If more serious problems occur, for example , if perchance the whole RAID disk subsystem was compromised at, say, 5 O'Clock, and you had to restore a previous nights backup after replacing disks, the 'ACTION-REPLAY' facility on LOCUS would automatically 'punch' every single bit of data again, and perform every update again - all without the user having to re-key.

This would bring you right bang up-to date in a fraction of the time, and with none of the hassle, of other approaches, where you would have to re-key EVERYTHING to get back to the 5 O'Clock failure point.

This would provide 100% accuracy, as no re-keying would be needed, and of course no reconciliation of errors would ensue. This would, of course, be an extremely rare occurrence anyway, but saves time, money, and Member confidence, once restored.

OFF-SITE Disaster Recovery [Level 2 DR]

This is an uplift to the Level 1 On-site disaster recovery. This is really a standby machine and associated PC's , network components, and Printers kept in our Dublin Office. Its purpose is to provide, with a maximum 24 hour period, a fully operational machine from which to run your business.

This is to cover the eventually of the machine being damaged, which is not covered, or cannot be covered, by 'normal' maintenance. An example of this would be, say, a burst water pipe or electrical problem has destroyed the computer - it is not due to component failure. It normally takes between 7-10 working days to buy, get, configure and install - this is too long to be off the air.

This requires Level 1 DR as a prerequisite, and at least one test per annum, and the service includes a procedures manual template, and a written report to the board on each test.

LOCUS-SHADOW Disaster Recovery [Level 3 DR]

This is the highest level of Disaster Recovery available in the marketplace.

Each Cu can have a hot-standby computer either on-site or, more commonly, off-site. Every change to ANY piece of information, no matter how minor, will automatically find its way onto the standby machine 'on the fly'

At close of business especially, therefore, a CU will have a primary computer and an identical copy of all data off-site.

Network Guardian

This is where a CU wants to connect to the internet in some shape or form, and needs anti-virus protection.

This is in effect installing a automated service to retrieve and apply anti-virus software to a sites' nominated PCS. This is an automated process, as users may not always get the time to do this.

Hardware Replacement Service

Many components such as printers, and even PCs, are non-critical, as most users have (or should have) at least one 'spare' for immediate use.

WCS provide a service whereby faulty components are swapped out via courier service, and the components is either repaired or replaced.

Most of these components are 'plug-in' anyway, but are configured by WCS for use on-site Eg Printer settings
